Joint Heater
Not a bitumen product but typical of the attention to detail that Ooms International put into the building of asphalt pavements.
The Ooms Joint heater was borne out of the recognition that compaction and adhesion at asphalt joints was not as good as it could be and that compaction of polymer modified binders like Sealoflex requires even more attention to get the best result. Schiphol airport was the first location where ravelling of pavements was eliminated with the use of the Joint Heater developed by Ooms and Ecoseam of the Netherlands.
These joint heaters are currently in use in the UK and Ireland and have been successfully applied on the Highways Agency Trunk Road network. They are currently undergoing detailed trials with large national asphalt contractors.
We are pleased to speak to clients, contractors and DLO operations about the use of the Joint Heater and its success to date.
